Scope and single purpose

This policy applies to the Chrome extension Abstract Copy for PubMed. Its single purpose is to copy the abstract text from the current PubMed article page to the user's clipboard. The extension runs only in response to an explicit click on its toolbar icon.

Information the extension handles

To perform its single purpose, the extension temporarily reads website content from the current PubMed article page, specifically the text displayed in the Abstract section. It does not request access to unrelated tabs, browsing history, identity, account credentials, payment information, or precise location.

Local processing, collection, and disclosure

Abstract text is processed locally in the current browser tab and written to the local clipboard. The extension does not collect, log, retain, sell, share, or transfer website content or other user data to the publisher or any third party.

  • No server-side storage or external network transmission
  • No remotely hosted code

Chrome permissions

The extension requests only the permissions required for its user-initiated workflow. It does not request persistent host permissions.

activeTab

Provides temporary access to the current tab only after the user clicks the extension icon.

scripting

Runs the extension's locally bundled extraction scripts in that current tab.

clipboardWrite

Writes the extracted abstract text to the user's clipboard as requested.

The extension operates on pages provided by PubMed. PubMed and NCBI are governed by their own terms and privacy practices. This is an independent extension and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by NCBI or PubMed.
